PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — The Pflugerville Independent School District Board of Trustees named a lone finalist for the role of superintendent during its Thursday night meeting.
Dr. Quintin Shepherd was named as PfISD’s superintendent finalist. He has served as the superintendent for Victoria ISD since 2018, with previous leadership roles in Iowa and Illinois, according to PfISD’s announcement.
Per Texas law, Pflugerville ISD will observe a 21-day waiting period before the board can formally hire Shepherd.
Shepherd has 18 years of experience as a superintendent, and previously worked as a high school principal, elementary principal, and a PreK-12 music teacher, PfISD said.
According to the announcement, Shepherd plans on taking a 100-day listening and learning tour dubbed “Discovering Pflugerville” to “forge deeper connections with the Pflugerville community and will include meetings with community members, parents, administration, campus leadership, teachers, staff, and students.”
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as Superintendent of Pflugerville ISD and to champion the cause of students, teachers, parents, and community members as we embark on our journey of continuous improvement,” Shepherd said. “Joining a community that places children and families at the heart of its mission is both an honor and a calling.”
The Board of Trustees in December accepted the resignation of former superintendent Douglas Killian, who served PfISD for nearly seven years. Steve Flores, former superintendent of Round Rock ISD and Harlingen CISD, has served as the interim superintendent since Killeen’s departure. He also served as the interim superintendent in Taylor ISD for the fall 2023 semester.
