PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — A man previously charged with murder was convicted of tampering with evidence Aug. 5 following a plea deal in connection with a May 2020 incident.

According to Travis County court documents, 34-year-old Kendric Knatte was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the third-degree felony tampering charge. A sentence of five years for the manslaughter charge will also run concurrently.

The charges were related to the shooting death of 32-year-old Frankia Mathurin at a Pflugerville apartment complex on May 26, 2020.

Toward his sentence, Knatte received a jail credit of 1,009 days.
