AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Pflugerville voted earlier this week to extend its partnership with emergency medical service Allegiance Mobile Health.
City Council on May 14 discussed Advanced Life Support EMS Services for the City with both Travis County Emergency Services District 2 and Allegiance Mobile Health. The City’s current contract with Allegiance Mobile Health was set to expire on June 30, 2024.
During Tuesday’s meeting, city council voted 4-3 to continue the city’s partnership with Allegiance Mobile Health.
According to the City of Pflugerville, the partnership is a $1.3 million investment annually and will remain steady for a four-year period with no escalators, and an option for two additional years.
The city said it will monitor service levels through a “robust set of performance metrics that Allegiance Mobile Health will report monthly.”
Last year, Travis County ESD No. 2, also known as the Pflugerville Fire Department, expressed concerns over Allegiance after a patient died in their paramedics’ care, according to the autopsy report.
At that time, a City of Pflugerville spokesperson issued a statement about the ESD’s concerns and said it had partnered with the City of Austin for oversight over Allegiance moving forward.
“Quality of life is our top priority and this includes the safety and well-being of our residents. To ensure that Allegiance continues to provide the highest level of care and safety for our residents, the City has entered into an interlocal agreement with the City of Austin for the oversight of emergency medical services through Allegiance.”

KXAN reached out to Allegiance Mobile Health for comment and did not receive a response. Amanda Baum, regional vice president for Allegiance Mobile Health, appeared at a city council workshop after the incident and said she could not comment on the incident.
